SWIMMING: Anna no match for Du Quoin in the pool

The Swimming Indians ran away with Tuesday night's home swim meet against Anna, beating up on the Blue Dolphins 465-122 at the Du Quoin Municipal Pool. A total of eleven Indians swept their way to wins in all three of their solo events.

Du Quoin girls winning three races on Tuesday night were Mikah Montgomery (7-8; 50 meter freestyle, breaststroke, butterfly), Adalyn Darnell (9-10; 25m freestyle, breaststroke, individual medley), Meesha Montgomery (11-12; 50m freestyle, breaststroke, IM), Makoa Montgomery (11-12; 100m freestyle, backstroke, butterfly), Olivia Cravens (13-14; 50m freestyle, breaststroke, butterfly), Amelia McLain (100m freestyle, backstroke, IM), Maci Montgomery (15-18; 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle, breaststroke) and Quinn Kirkpatrick (15-18; backstroke, butterfly, IM).

Boys going three-for-three included Maddax Thompson (boys 7-8; backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly), Ethan Bellamy (13-14; 50m freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke) and Paxton Higgerson (13-14; 100m freestyle, butterfly, IM).

Several other swimmers won two events: Girls Kenzie Oestreicher (6 & under; freestyle, backstroke), Kallie Oestreicher (7-8; 25m freestyle, backstroke) and Malayna Russell (9-10; 50m freestyle, backstroke), and boys A.J. Keith (7-8; 25m freestyle, 50m freestyle), Payton Wood (11-12; 50m freestyle, backstroke) and Rylan Ragar (boys 15-18; backstroke, breaststroke).

Other swimmers winning for Du Quoin were Bryson McClanahan (boys 6 & under freestyle), Gannyn Funk (boys 6 & under backstroke), Malik Jones (boys 9-10 25m freestyle), Henry Harsy (boys 9-10 50m freestyle), Jackson Halstead (boys 9-10 breaststroke), Ian Carver (boys 11-12 100m freestyle) and Benjamin Harsy (boys 11-12 breaststroke).

Sixteen Swimming Indians relay teams also picked up wins vs. Anna.

On Saturday, Du Quoin traveled to Mt. Vernon for the Larry Jukes Memorial Freestyle Invitational, where Indians took home wins in sixteen events.

Maddax Thompson (boys 7-8; 25m freestyle, 50m freestyle) and Paxton Higgerson (boys 13-14; 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle) both set a pair of team records at the Invitational.

Du Quoin is off until July 7 when they host Salem.
