Yodelin' Boy's weekend: First Coachella, then the Grand Ole Opry

Mason Ramsey, the 11-year-old Golconda boy who has gained fame as the "Walmart Yodeling Boy," made two appearances over the weekend that show his widening national appeal.

At the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, Ramsey was the guest of artist DJ Whethan. He wowed the crowd with his take on the old Hank Williams tunes he's known for singing.

Of all the artists performing at Coachella, Ramsey and the megastar Beyoncé had the most mentions on the social media platform Twitter, according to Billboard.com.

After leaving Coachella, Ramsey headed for Nashville where he took the stage Saturday night at the famed Grand Ole Opry.

last week, while guesting on ABC's "The Ellen Show," host Ellen DeGeneres surprised Ramsey by telling him she had arranged for him to perform at the home of country music, bringing tears to Ramsey's eyes.

There, he had the opportunity to stand in "The Circle," the portion of the old Opry stage from the Ryman auditorium, which was incorporated into the new Opry stage when it moved in 1974.

He also got the chance to meet country entertainer Ricky Skaggs and other musicians during the evening.
