British comedy 'Cash on Delivery' opens Friday at Du Quoin High School

DU QUOIN - High school theater students are busy this week rehearsing lines from their upcoming play, "Cash on Delivery," with performances this Friday through Sunday. Show times are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $7 and will be sold at the door.

Theater director Carissa Lindner said the play is probably best described by the Samuel French licensing team as a "fast-paced British farce, which concerns a con artist who has duped the welfare authorities for years by claiming every type of benefit for the innumerable people he claims live at his address.

"He's sent scrambling when welfare investigators show up and he is forced to prove all of his boarders are in fact real. A hilarious comedy full of mistaken identities, slamming doors and a con that spirals out of control."
