• 2018 Perry County Fair: June 16-23, Perry County Fairgrounds, 220 Oxbow Road, Pinckneyville. 9 a.m. 4-H Swine Premier Show, at Wenneman's. The 4-H General Show starts at 5:30 p.m.

• Scottish Highland Games: 2-3 p.m. at the Du Quoin Public Library, 28 S. Washington St. Piping-along contests with provided recorders, create your own kilt with plaid fabric (available), caber (pool noodle) toss, archery contests, hunt for Nessie's eggs and more. Join the Summer Reading program "Reading Takes You Places" -- especially Scotland.

• Summer Reading Program: 2 p.m. at the Rick Warren Library, 114 S. 4th St., Elkville.

• Paint Your Pooch (or other pet): 6-10 p.m. at Twisted Pair Gallery, 30 W. Main St., Du Quoin. An artist sketches your favorite pet photo onto a canvas -- you fill in with paint. $50; this is the second fundraiser for the Perry County Humane Society, after the first one at the Backwater Pub and Grub was so successful. • Perry County Soccer Association fundraiser: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., members will collect money around the Pinckneyville square and four-way stop.
