Perry County DAR chapter attends state conference

BLOOMINGTON - Honorary Chapter Regents Joy Upton and Mary Haines, delegates from Beaucoup Creek (Perry County) Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, attended the 122nd DAR state conference in Bloomington, April 27-29.

Over 400 members gathered to hear keynote speaker, President General NSDAR, Ann Turner Dillon, give her address, "A Look at the National Society."

Dr. Ann Rondeau, retired United States Navy Vice Admiral, and president of the College of DuPage, presented a program on "Women Patriots as Disrupters" on "National Defense Night."

DAR Good Citizens, scholarship winners and essay winners were recognized on "Youth Day."

Beaucoup Creek member, Liz Wall, who was unable to attend, received the "New Member, New Horizons Award."

Also attending the conference were: State Regent of California, Beverly Moncreif, State Regent of Idaho, Susan Davis, State Regent of Minnesota, Faye Leach, and State Regent of Oregon, Alice Miles.

In a tribute to departed Illinois daughters, Beaucoup Creek members, Bonnie Fay Samples and Delores Rich, were remembered.
