Baldwin resident injured in single-vehicle crash

A 28-year-old Baldwin resident, Katie Brewer, was transported to Memorial Hospital of Chester for treatment of injuries after a single-vehicle accident on Aug. 6 on State Route 3 near Ellis Grove.

According to the Randolph County Sheriff's Office, Brewer was a passenger in a 2003 Ford F250 being driven by 20-year-old Christopher Compton, of Percy, southbound on Route 3.

Police say the vehicle ran off the right side of the road and struck a guardrail before returning to the road and then striking the guardrail a second time.

The F250 later turned around at the end of the guardrail, striking a cluster of mailboxes and posts in the process. Brewer, who was not wearing her seatbelt, struck her face on the windshield, causing her injuries.

Compton was cited for illegal transportation of alcohol and speeding. The accident was reported at 1:40 a.m.
