A century of agricultural history takes center stage this week at the 58th-annual Steam, Gas and Threshing Show in Pinckneyville.
Presented by the American Thresherman Association, the show will run Aug. 17 to 20 at the Perry County Fairgrounds.
Featured this year will be collections from the International Harvester Collectors Club of Illinois, specifically Chapter 10 from central Illinois and Chapter 32 from southern Illinois.
The annual event technically kicks off Wednesday, Aug. 16 with the farm horse pull and competition at 7 p.m. Beginning Thursday and running through Sunday, daily activities include displays of historic farming equipment, as well as threshing, plowing, rope-making and other demonstrations.
The Illinois Tractor Pulling Association will celebrate its own 50-year mark at the event with the ITPA and Illinois Hot Farm Stock Pulls at 7 p.m. Aug. 17 to 19.
Sunday begins at 8 a.m. with a worship and a memorial service and antique tractor pulls at 10 a.m. The Egyptian Antique Auto Club also will hold an auto show and swap meet.
Other events over the course of the weekend include a kids pedal tractor pull, steam train rides, a flea market and more. Grounds admission is $7, or free for children under 12. There is no cost to park. For more information, go online to americanthresherman.com.
