State police, Kroger team up on holiday food drive

The Illinois State Police have are accepting donations for the inaugural "Cram The Cruiser" holiday food drive. Designed to provide non-perishable food items for families in need throughout the southern Illinois area, the campaign will continue through Dec. 3.

On this final day, ISP representatives will be on hand at the Marion and Carbondale Kroger stores to accept donations. Look for additional details on the ISP District 13 Facebook page.

Collection sites for donations have been established at all southern Illinois Kroger stores. Suggested donations include canned fruits and vegetables, canned meats, macaroni and cheese, cereals, peanut butter, jellies, canned soups, chili or spaghetti sauces, brownie and cake mixes, coffee, water, powdered milk and juices.

Food will be distributed to local shelters, churches or other organizations in the areas where it is collected. All donations will stay in southern Illinois.
