Steeleville HS teen advances in 3-point competition

Jacob Sutton, a sophomore representing Steeleville High School, has advanced to the state finals in the IHSA's Three-Point Showdown competition.

Sutton advanced out of the Ziegler Regionals by shooting 10 of 15 shots. At the sectional competition at Hardin County High School in Elizabethtown on March 2, he tied with three other shooters with 9 of 15. A 10 shot (5 from each corner) shoot off was needed to break the tie. Sutton shot 8 of 10 three pointers to advance.

The finals will be held Thursday, March 8, at Carver Arena in Peoria.

Sutton is the son of John and Julie Sutton.
