Schmid wins NRA shooting contest

CARTERVILLE - John A. Logan College Continuing Education Department firearms instructor and former distinguished Marion Police Officer, Vance Schmid, won the senior (first overall) division of the National Rifle Association Competitive Shooting World Action Pistol Championship last month.

It was a two-day event May 19-20, held at the Green Valley Shooting Club in Hallsville, MO. A World Shoot is conducted every other year. There were eight countries represented at this match and approximately 200 shooters.

Schmid has several other titles to his name and is known and respected around Southern Illinois as one of the better pistol shooters. He has been a Continuing Education Department instructor for six years and has an excellent following of students who take his Illinois Conceal Carry classes.
