Legence Bank to open new facility

MARION - Less than a year after opening on The Hill in Marion, Legence Bank announced last Thursday that it plans a $1 million renovation at a new location.

During a packed business after hours Chamber event on Thursday, president and CEO Keven Beckemeyer and Marion branch manager Jason Powell told the crowd of about 100 that the Eldorado-based company had purchased the former Fifth Third Bank building on Carbon Street.

"We wanted a more convenient location for our customers," said Powell.

Powell said the new facility will "make banking more efficient for our customers."

Along with additional office space, the new facility will add technology that is new to banking.

"We're trying to stay ahead of the game," said Powell.

The new technology will allow customers to complete transactions without waiting.

"We still want to have conversations with our customers," said Powell, adding that the facility will also have "an area for them (customers) to hang out."

"If customers are in a hurry," he said, "they can come in and make their transaction quickly."

Councilman Angelo Hightower said he believes the new location will be a plus for Marion. "It's going to be more convenient," he said. "I like the fact that it will be visible right in the main corridor."

Mayor Anthony Rinella said he was excited about new plans. "We love your investment in Marion," he said.
