Are you an amateur photographer with some great shots of southern Illinois?
The Southern Illinois LOCAL Media Group -- publishers of the Marion Republican, Marion SuperSaver, Harrisburg Register, Eldorado Journal, Du Quoin Call, Benton News, Carbondale Times, Randolph County Herald Tribune and Gallatin Democrat -- is soliciting photos for our 2019 calendar.
The prize for having your photo(s) selected? Bragging rights and some copies of the calendar. The calendar will be stuffed inside all our papers in late December, and individual copies will be available as well.
What we need: color photos, horizontal or square (unfortunately, vertical shots do not fit the template) that depict life and nature in southern Illinois. They can have people in them or not.
The photographer must live or work (or study) in southern Illinois.
Email your selections to email@example.com no later than Nov. 15. You can send anywhere from 1 to 10 photos, but they must be emailed to us as attachments of at least 200 dpi in size, to adequately reproduce in print. Multiple shots can come in the same email.
Tell us a little about each photo -- where it was taken, what were the circumstances. If there's a little story behind how you got the photo, we'd love to hear it. No photo-shopped images will be accepted, but effects like time-lapse are OK. If it is germane, include the equipment you used.
Please also include a short biography of yourself and give us a daytime phone number so we can reach you.
Questions? Email them to firstname.lastname@example.org and we'll get back to you quickly.
