Carbondale Halloween relaunch goes smoothly

Near-perfect weather greeted revelers last Saturday as the city rebooted official Halloween celebrations downtown after a two-decade hiatus.

Trick-or-treating on the Strip for the youngsters by day in the form of Carbondale Main Street's Candy Walk gave way to to a party-like atmosphere in the evening, with several local bands and acts taking turns on the stage at the concert venue on Washington Street. The set from the Woodbox Gang drew particular excitement.

The day's activities also included a line-up of movies and entertainment at the Varsity, traditional Safe Halloween activities at Murdale, a 5K, the Rotary Club of Carbondale-Breakfast's Great Pumpkin Race and more.
