The Boys and Girls Club of Carbondale has been awarded a $7,500 Wells Fargo grant.
The grant supports the academic success programs for youth such as Power Hour (homework, tutoring and remediation) and academic enrichment programs in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math).
This spring semester will focus on a Harry Potter theme to enhance learning in many content areas.
"In order to engage the youth in active learning, it is imperative that we are creative in our approach," said Tina Carpenter, CEO. "Finding ways to show youth that learning is fun in an innovative manner and using topics they are interested in opens up their entire world."
