Carbondale Lion helps with Rose Bowl float

A Carbondale Lions Club member, Jan Mandis, spent the New Year's Day holiday break in Pasadena, Calif., serving on the Lions International decorating team for the Tournament of Roses Lions float.

In addition to working on the float, Mandis was able to watch the parade, attend the Rose Bowl football game and other social events, and meet International Lions Club President Gudrun Yngvadottir of Iceland.

Mandis and others worked in a large building in which 19 other floats were built. She worked with Lions members from all over the world, and on the last work day before the parade, she spent 15 hours working.
