Rotary Club of Carbondale hands out grants for 2019

On March 13, the Rotary Club of Carbondale announced the 2019 recipients of grants given through the club's foundations.

The organizations applied in November 2018, and each had a Rotary Club of Carbondale member as a sponsor.

The recipients this year are Diaper Bank, I Can Read of Southern Illinois, Camp Beta (Diabetes Resource Team), Gum Drops, Give Kids a Smile, the Boys and Girls Club of Carbondale, and the eighth-grade program of the U of I Extension Office.

The organizations provide services ranging from diapers to food, to education to oral health to benefit young people.

The Rotary Club of Carbondale meets from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesdays at the District 95 Administrative Center, 925 S. Giant City Rd.

The speaker March 20 is Pat McCarthy of the Southern Illinois Miners.
