Farm-to-table event in Du Quoin set for July 11

DU QUOIN - The Du Quoin Chamber of Commerce has announced its Third Annual Farm to Table Dinner presented with generous support from the Perry County Farm Bureau, Marshall Browning Hospital, State Farm Agent Beth Thompson and Kremer Plumbing.

The evening will feature an elegant multicourse farm dinner experience showcasing a seasonal menu using farm-fresh produce and locally raised meat products sourced just minutes from where they will be enjoyed and hosted in downtown Du Quoin at Croessman Square on Main Street. The event gets underway with a social hour at 6:30 followed by dinner at 7:30 on Thursday, July 11.

Dinner will be prepared by cooks and chefs from several different local restaurants and bakeries. Soft drinks will be provided and a cash bar with wine and beer will also be available.

The chamber is seeking sponsorships to help offset the cost of the dinner and to help in future promotions of our town and our local businesses. Differing levels of sponsorship are available.

Menu Sponsorship - $250 half-page ad in souvenir booklet and business logo at food serving station

Table Sponsorship - $150 quarter-page ad in souvenir booklet and sign on a dinner table

Please contact the chamber office at 618-542-9570 or email dqchamber@nwcable.net for more information on how you and your business can be a part of this exciting event. Cutoff date for sponsorship is June 28.

Dinner music will be provided with more music to follow, concluding around 10 p.m.

Tickets for the event are $40 each and will be available for purchase on June 4, at 11 a.m., at Kremer Plumbing, WDQN/Sunny 97.1 Radio Station, and the Chamber Office.

Chamber representative and Du Quoin businessman Billy Rogers approached the Du Quoin City Council Monday and said that the number of tickets for the dinner have been increased to 200.

"We've always sold out pretty quick," he said.

The chamber has requested that the city block track from Diision to Mulberry streets during the event.

"We couldn't do this without the city's cooperation," Rogers said.

Mayor Guy Alongi gave the thumbs up to the extravaganza.

"It's a great event for Du Quoin," he said.

Managing Editor John Homan contributed to the story.
