Electronics recycling in Carrier Mills Saturday

CARRIER MILLS - Saturday is an upcoming opportunity for those who wish to recycle electronic items that no longer work or no longer are wanted.

State and federal laws now prohibit disposal of electronic items in landfills. Rather, those items must be recycled.

Saturday, from 9 a.m. to noon (or until the recycler's trailer is full), electronic items may be recycled at the Carrier Mills Municipal Building parking lot, 101 N. Mill St.

There is a small fee required to be able to dispose of electronic items.

There also have been some changes since the last electronics collection.

Console TVs and big-screen TVs are $10; small-screen TVs, computer monitors and small flat-screen TVs all cost $5 to be recycled.

Due to recycling costs, the following items no longer are accepted for free: vacuums, microwave ovens, printers, DVRs, VCRs and copiers now cost $1 each to be recycled.

The event is not limited to Carrier Mills residents. Anyone from the area may bring items to be recycled.

Tires and paint no longer are accepted.</group><group id="4066F000-9BF8-41C4-9DC6-4B64BBD6D9FC" type="seoLabels"><seoLabels></s
