Logan spikers fall a third time to Mineral Area

CARTERVILLE - John A Logan College's volleyball team would have a pretty impressive record this fall if it weren't for Mineral Area College.

The Volunteers dropped a third straight match to the Cardinals this past Friday at home in four sets, winning the first set 25-14 before getting outscored the next three sets: 25-19, 25-13, 25-22.

With the loss, Logan falls to 8-5 overall. The Vols remain undefeated in the Great Rivers Athletic Conference at 4-0.

Kim Hall, Bryleigh Buchanan, and Kamyern Sillmon all recorded 10 kills to pace the Logan offense against Mineral Area. Lexie Barnes notched 25 assists. Alanis Below was tops in digs with 17.

The Vols host Shawnee Community College at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday and will then host a tournament Friday with matches against Frontier College (1 p.m.) and East Central College (5 p.m.). The tourney resumes Saturday with matches against St. Louis Community College (11 a.m. and Lewis & Clark College (3 p.m.).
