Arrest made in connection with recent shooting

A second person has been charged in connection with the Sept. 14 shooting incident that left three people injured on Carbondale's northeast side.

Police said Tuesday they arrested Jamal Q. Humes, 35, last weekend in the 700 block of East Grand Avenue on an arrest warrant charging aggravated unlawful use of weapons by a felon, aggravated battery with a firearm, aggravated discharge of a firearm and possession of a firearm without a FOID.

The arrest was in reference to the ongoing shooting investigation from Sept. 14 in the 700 block of North Robert A. Stalls Avenue. Police say that on that evening, a dispute among acquaintances led to shots being fired. Three people were injured as a result, although police said all were expected to recover.

A 17-year-old juvenile also was taken into custody in connection with the incident.
