Screenings available in Carbondale

This week has seen increased testing for COVID-19 in the area.

The SIU Centers for Family Medicine, in coordination with the state of Illinois and the Illinois Primary Health Care Association, began hosting testing sites Monday in Carbondale, Quincy and Springfield. Carbondale's testing site is located at the SIU Center for Family Medicine, located at 300 West Oak St., and is open for testing from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

Anyone with COVID-19-like illness or symptoms can be screened, without a doctor's order. Symptoms include fever, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, and new loss of taste or smell, in accordance with the guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Testing is also available for those with or without symptoms who work in health care, work in corrections, serve as first responders or work in other areas of the service economy.
