Eric Freeburg, of Farmington

Eric William Freeburg, of Farmington, passed away December 3, 2017 at his home at the age of 71.

He was born in Mckeesport, Pennsylvania on November 23, 1946 to the late Ragnar "Rags" Louis and Phyllis L. (Shaffer) Freeburg.

Eric graduated from Newnan High School in Newnan, Georgia, in 1965 and went on to Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama where he received a bachelor's degree in Business Administration.

Later, he received his MBA from the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia. Eric worked for Georgia Power before going on to a long career as a hospital administrator.

He finished his career after 20 years at Chester Memorial Hospital in Chester. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed watching college sports, especially Auburn football games.

He was also a huge Cardinals fan, having attended many games. APBA, which is a statistical board game organization, was a hobby that Eric participated in and enjoyed to the fullest.

He was a devout Christian and a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. His family meant the world to him and he cherished time spent with them.

He also loved his pets.

Survivors include his wife, Marilyn "Beth" (Rickus); a son, Brian Freeburg of Las Vegas, Nevada; one step-daughter, Maridee (Matt) Neilsen of St. Louis; two brothers, Ragnar "Bud" (Becky) Freeburg of Newnan, Georgia and Philip (Ann) Freeburg of Madison, Wisconsin; five nieces, one nephew; other extended family and many good friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

A funeral service will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church on Sunday, December 10 at 2 p.m. with The Rev. Rick Foss officiating. Interment will follow at Hillview Memorial Gardens in Farmington.

In lieu of flowers, memorials, if desired, may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church or Farmington Pet Adoption Center.
