Richard Eugene 'Rick' Taylor of Du Quoin

Richard Eugene "Rick" Taylor, 69, of Du Quoin, passed away at 7:35 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018 at the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

Rick had worked as a welder and contractor. He was a member of the Gospel Assembly Church in Du Quoin. Rick was also a member of the United Iron Workers Union. He was a U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam.

He was born Jan. 12, 1948 at Sesser, IL, the son of Arlie Ray and Norma Regina (Leathers) Taylor.

He married Teddy Dunmyer on March 27, 1978 at Benton, IL and she survives.

He is survived by his wife, of Du Quoin; three children - Rachel Lea Hall and husband Andrew, Zachary L.F. Taylor and Richard E. Taylor, Jr., all of Du Quoin; five brothers - Fred Taylor of Sesser, Jack Taylor of Du Quoin, Elston "Joe" Taylor of Du Quoin, Bill Henson of Marissa and Tom Henson of Du Quoin; four sisters - Dianna Reidelberger of Du Quoin, Cathy Porter of Du Quoin, Vickie Gillespie of Elkville, and Tina Newton of Gillette, WY; five grandchildren - Cole Taylor, Gabe Taylor, Lani Hall, Charli Hall and Juliea Warner.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Paul Taylor and one sister, Debbie Taylor.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018 at the Gospel Assembly Church in Du Quoin with Rev. Gaylen Holden officiating.

Friends may call from noon until the time of service on Saturday at the Gospel Assembly Church in Du Quoin.

Burial will be in the Old Du Quoin Cemetery at Du Quoin.

Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Du Quoin V.F.W. and American Legion and the Army National Guard.
