David Walter 'Dave' Harrison, formerly of Harrisburg

HARRISBURG - David Walter "Dave" Harrison, 82, of Pekin, formerly of Harrisburg, passed away at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 23, 2017, at his home.

Born May 6, 1935, in Carrier Mills to William Walter and Winnie Bly (Reid) Harrison, he married Brenda Sue Pyle on April 6, 1957, in Harrisburg, and she survives.

Other survivors include his daughter, Sue (Tony) Lamberson of Pekin; son, Eric (Kathy) Harrison of East Peoria; four grandchildren, Scott (Rachel) Lamberson of Green Valley, Lindsay (Brandon) Dash and Natasha Harrison, both of Pekin, and Erik (Sammi) Harrison of East Peoria; six great-grandchildren, Hunter, Macie, Linley, Olivia, Ivory and Kallum; brother, Carl Harrison of Bloomington; and sister, Vera Fowler of Fruita, Colorado.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, David Bruce Harrison; grandson, Seth Lamberson; two brothers, Robert Harrison and Jerry Harrison; and three sisters, Irene Harrison, Janelle Stunson and Judy Trail.

Dave worked for Heights Finance Company for 40 years, retiring in 2004 as senior vice president. In his long career with Heights, he progressed from entry level to senior management.

He was a devoted and faithful member of Pekin First Church of the Nazarene and had served his church as a former board member and Sunday school teacher. He also participated in 10 Work and Witness mission trips.

Dave was always active and enjoying golfing, fishing, camping, gardening, swimming and jogging. He was a St. Louis Cardinals fan.

His greatest joy was being a grandpa and great-grandpa and attending the children's activities.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, in Oasis Community Church of the Nazarene in Harrisburg with the Rev. Jim Kraemer officiating. Burial of cremains will be at a later date in Salem Cemetery in Carrier Mills. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pekin First Church of the Nazarene, 3514 Broadway St., Pekin, IL 61554 for the Southside Mission Project.
