Kenneth A. Stroud of Johnston City

JOHNSTON CITY - Kenneth A. Stroud, 95, passed away at 6:45 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, in Marion VA Medical Center.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, in Murman and Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City with Pastor Steve Shea officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion with military honors conducted by the Illinois Army National Guard, Marion VFW and Marion American Legion.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Marion VFW and American Legion Honor Guard. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Kenneth was born Nov. 16, 1922, in Spillertown, the son of Earl and Ida (Hayes) Stroud.

He married Barbara (McKnight) on Sept. 1, 1942, and she preceded him in death on March 6, 2008.

Kenneth was a carpenter. He also was a World War 11 veteran, who served in the anti-tank division and received a Purple Heart.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard Stroud and wife Barbara and Don McChesney and wife Brenda, all of Marion; two daughters and one son-in-law, Barbara Deann Lampley, and Darlene Robertson and husband Ralph, all of Marion; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 22 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Branche of Creal Springs and Patricia JoAnne Milton of Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and two sisters.
