Florence M. McMillan of Carbondale

Florence M. McMillan, 95, of Carbondale passed away at 8:08 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2018, at Manor Court of Carbondale.

Florence was born July 31, 1922, in Philadelphia, Pa., to Nicholas H. and Minnie Alma (Lomax) Meister. On Sept. 19, 1942, Florence was united in marriage with William James McMillan in Philadelphia. He preceded her in death April 16, 1983.

Florence is survived by daughters-in-law, Bonnie McMillan and Sharon McMillan; four grandchildren, Kimberly (Eugene) Talley, Megan (Raymond Jr.) Clodi, Sarahjane McMillan and Joshua McMillan; and four great-grandchildren, Kaylan and Savannah Talley and Alistair and Anderson Clodi.

Florence was preceded in death by her husband, William; her parents; two sons, Eric W. McMillan and Bruce James McMillan; and one sister.

Florence was a loving homemaker who loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was always taking care of others.

Memorial services for Florence will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Murphysboro with the Rev. Hoem officiating. Visitation will be from 3 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the church.

The preferred form of remembrance is memorial donations to Mt. Vernon Township High School Special Olympics. Envelopes will be available at the church.
