Leon L. Stull of Harrisburg

Leon L. Stull, 81, of Harrisburg, passed away Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.

Leon was born Feb. 21, 1937 in Harrisburg, the son of Warner B. and Evelyn Sisk Stull. He was married to Carolyn Williams and she survives.

Leon was a retired police officer for the city of Harrisburg starting his career in 1967 and finishing in 1987 with 20 years of service to the citizens of Harrisburg. During that time, he served for a period as police chief. He was a member of the Illinois Police Association and Harrisburg Lodge #325 AF & AM.

He graduated from Harrisburg Township High School and Leon dearly loved his Class of '55. Leon had a huge heart and dearly loved helping kids. He played Santa Claus for years until his retirement in 1987. He loved his Wednesday morning coffee at the Mills Café with all his police friends.

Leon is survived by his wife, Carolyn, his daughter Gail (Kevin) Ewell of Pittsburg and his constant companion, Bella. He was preceded in death by his parents, Warner and Evelyn Stull.

Graveside services will precede burial at Sunset Garden Cemetery at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2018 with Rev. Darrell Ford officiating. Friends are asked to call from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 27, at the J.M. Weirauch Funeral Home in Harrisburg.
