Dr. H. Andrew Cserny of Eldorado

Dr. H. Andrew Cserny, 79, of Eldorado, passed away on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his family.

He was born in Temesvar, Romania on April 29, 1938 to the late Dr. Andrew and Dr. Edith (Arkossy) Cserny.

He was a graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in 1963 where he was a member of Chi Epsilon of Phi Rho Sigma.

Dr. Cserny started his practice in Trousdale County, Tennessee where he had a general medical practice including obstetrics and general surgery and he also served as Trousdale County Coroner.

He entered the U.S. Navy on June 1, 1963 as a lieutenant, where he served as general medical practitioner on the U.S.S. Galveston and then was honorably discharged on Jan. 13, 1967 after which he served in the Navy Reserve. He was a lifelong member of the American Legion.

Dr. Cserny came to Eldorado in 1968 to begin his primary care practice as physician and surgeon. He was a partner in ownership of Ferrell Hospital, where he practiced medicine for many years.

Survivors include: his wife, Retta June Cserny of Raleigh; his children: Charlie (Dana) Cserny and their son, Andrew, of Lexington, S.C., Suzanne Cserny of Marion, Mark (Joanna) Odum of Madisonville, KY and their daughter, Aimee Odum of Brooklyn, NY and their son, Aaron (Gabbi) Odum, and their daughter, Renley, all of Madisonville, KY, Susan (Rick) Mallady and their daughter, Kara Mallady, son, Caleb (Jillian) Mallady and daughter, Juniper, all of Harrisburg.

Dr. Cserny is also survived by a sister, Klara Cserny, of Tucson, AZ.

The family appreciates all the acts of kindness shown during Dr. Cserny's illness.

Private family services are pending. In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorials be made to the 4-C's in Harrisburg.
