Myrna Gail Fife of Harrisburg

Myrna Gail Fife, age 87, a resident of Harrisburg, passed away at 1:25 p.m. Thursday April 12, 2018 at Reflections Memory Care.

Myrna was born on Oct. 27, 1930 to Harlon "Cigar" and Juanita (Hart) Seats. On May 21, 1954 she married the love of her life, Thomas Wilburn Fife, and they shared 53 years until his death in 2007.

Myrna was a loving Christian woman and a faithful member of McKinley Avenue Baptist Church for 64 years. For several years she taught a young women's Sunday school class and remained in touch with "her girls" throughout the years.

Myrna and husband Tom taught a couples Sunday school class for 20 years and were presented the Lifetime Achievement Award by the church.

Myrna was an active member of the Homebound Committee and had a heart for missions. She loved baking pecan pies for family and neighbors and embroidered countless quilts she gave as gifts.

Myrna is survived by sons Steven of Evansville and Michael of Noble; two granddaughters, Courtney (Ben) McNett and Maggie (Adam) McKnight; great-granddaughters, Morgan McNett and June Avery McKnight; nieces, Bobbie Lynn, Cindy and Debby; and her extended family, Shannon Welker, Kimberly Johnson and special friends Robin Stricklin, Wilma Simpson and Peg Ozment.

Myrna was preceded in death by her parents, husband Tom, brother Harlon and a niece, Becky.

Myrna wanted to be remembered as the woman described in Proverbs 31:25-30. She will be.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at McKinley Avenue Baptist Church, with the Rev. Scott Johnson officiating.

Visitation will be at the church from 11 a.m. to the service time.

Burial will follow in Sunset Lawn Cemetery in Harrisburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Homebound Ministry at McKinley Avenue Baptist Church or to Hospice of Southern Illinois. Envelopes will be available at the church.
