Cole R. Pierce of Du Quoin

Cole R. Pierce, 80, of Du Quoin, passed away at 4:10 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at the Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.

Cole had been a machine operator at Owens Broadway. He was of the Protestant faith. He was a United States Army veteran.

He was born July 5, 1937 at Sesser, IL, the son of Clyde A. and Addie (Flatt) Pierce, Sr.

He married Lillia Stamm on Oct. 31, 1964 and she survives.

Besides his wife, Cole is survived by three sisters, Shirley Holmes of Du Quoin, La Donna Messer of Atwood, Tennessee and Coleen Kaminskas of Janesville, Wisconsin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Emma Harrison; and two brothers, Clyde Pierce Jr. and Gene Pierce.

Graveside services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 4, 2018 at the Blairsville Cemetery at Blairsville, Illinois, with the Rev. Lon McPherson officiating.

Those attending the service are asked to go directly to the cemetery, where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Army National Guard.

Friends may make memorials to the Marshall Browning Hospital Tree of Life or the Du Quoin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center Activity Fund. Both will be accepted at the funeral home.
