Charles 'Charlie' Cash of Benton

Charles "Charlie" Cash took his last Earthly breath July 30, 2018. The next breath he took was in Heaven in the presence of his Savior and the angels. His place in Heaven was assured when he gave his life to Christ at the age of 11.

Charlie was born in West Frankfort to Ruth Hill Cash and Ray Cash on Nov. 30, 1945.

He attended Marion schools and graduated from SIU with an MBA in 1969. While at SIU, he met and married Joy Taylor in 1968. In March, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Mrs. Cash continues to live in Benton.

From 1969 to 1973, Charlie served in the USAF stationed at Canon AFB in Clovis, N.M. After working in the banking industry from many years, he retired from J.P Morgan Chase in Houston, Texas. It was then he began his 15-year courageous battle with multiple myeloma. The Rotary Club in Benton held a special place in his heart. He was one of their Paul Harris Fellows. He was very dedicated to his Lord and his church at the First Baptist Church in West Frankfort. In all of his dealings both professional and personal, Charles Cash was regarded as a man of integrity and honor.

Charles is survived by his wife, Joy; sister-in-law Wanda Walton; brother-in-law Dennis Taylor; nieces and nephews; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Dale Cash.
