Dorothy Ione Sanderson, formerly of Chester

Dorothy Ione Sanderson (Holloman), of Alameda, Calif. and formerly of Chester, died July 29, 2018 in Alameda, Calif.

She was born Dec. 14, 1923 in Chester, where she grew up, She lived the last 75 years in Alameda, California. Dorothy (Dot) worked 40 years at Alameda Naval Air Station. Her first job with the air station was that of a welder on ships. She then took classes to learn data entry and retired as a manager in their IT Dept.

Dot was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a Daughter of the American Revolution. She enjoyed playing the piano, violin, flying airplanes, loving her dogs and visiting with her many friends. Dot was a very special lady.

Survivors include a brother, Col. Dale Holloman of Belleville; and nieces and nephews Sheila, Sandy, Terry, Bruce and Debbie. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Elizabeth Holloman; and a brother LCMDR George Holloman.

A memorial will be held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28 at the Presbyterian Church in Chester. Fellowship with relatives and friends will follow.
