Frederick L. Hise Jr., formerly of Eldorado

Frederick L. Hise Jr., 51, of Center Point, Indiana, passed away at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, in Nashville, Tennessee, on May 11, 2018, following a battle with heart and liver disease.

Fred was born in Eldorado on March 22, 1967, the son of Frederick L. Hise Sr. and Bessie Dean (Nelson) Hise. After Fred graduated from Shawneetown High School in 1985, he enlisted in the United States Army. During his seven years in the Army, Fred was stationed in Germany and he served in Operation Desert Storm. After an honorable discharge, Fred started working for the Indiana Bureau of Prisons. He retired in September of 2017 as a Senior Officer Specialist at the Federal Prison in Terre Haute, Indiana.

Fred enjoyed collecting coins, a hobby he learned from his dad. He had a great sense of humor, even though sometimes dry, and loved to make people laugh. He was a member of the Berea Christian Church in Brazil, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick L. Hise Sr. and Bessie Dean (Nelson) Hise; his sister, Linda Kay Fenton; his grandmother, Ethel Caldwell; and his aunt, Sally L. Frech.

Survivors include his loving wife of 26 years, Melanie; his brother, Waymon "Skip" Fenton of Eldorado; his brother, William Dean Hise (Nancy) of Lewes, Delaware; his aunt, Evelyn Stefko of Harrisburg; nephews Chris Randall, Shannon Randall, Kyle Randall, Brannon Randall, and Anthony Fenton; and many friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 5 p.m. at the Westwood Cemetery in Shawneetown on Monday, Aug. 20, 2018. Friends are welcome to join his family.
