Gerald Wade “Chub” Stricklin

Gerald Wade "Chub" Stricklin, age 73, a resident of Galatia, passed away at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2018 at his residence.

Gerald was born July 13, 1945 in the Somerset community of Harrisburg, to the late Arthur L. "Slim" and Frances Lee (Butler) Stricklin. He was a retired coal miner with Sahara Coal Co., Arch Mineral Captain Mine and most recently a contractor.

In October of 1996 he married Charlene Smith and she survives. Gerald was a member of the Benton Eagles Lodge No. 2898 and loved his grandchildren, especially his great-grandson, Reid.

Survivors include his wife Charlene; son, Jammie (Denise) Stricklin of Galatia; daughter, Jill Marciano of Virginia Beach, Virginia.; eight grandchildren, Paige (A.J.) Moulton of Marion; Jailyn Stricklin of Galatia; Arthur Austin Stricklin of Galatia; Zach Hogge, Chase Huddleston, Gage (Stephanie) Marciano, Maci Marciano, and Van Marciano, all of Virginia Beach, Virginia; great-grandchildren Reid Walker of Galatia and Carter Marciano of Virginia Beach, Virginia; one sister, Mary (Harold) Litten of Ephrata, Pennsylvania; and one brother, Charles "Fuzz" (Robin) Stricklin of Harrisburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Carolyn Sue Stricklin in infancy; and two brothers, Jim Stricklin and Lyman "Doc" Stricklin.

Services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26, 2018 at Reed Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Steve Dunning officiating. Burial will be in Tate's Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday Aug. 25, 2018 at Reed Funeral Chapel.
