Jim L. Walizer of Johnston City

Jim L. Walizer, a longtime resident of Johnston City, went to be with his Lord Aug. 19, 2018.

Jim was born July 18, 1934, in Williamsport, Pa., to Lester Walizer Sr. and Lairie Ann Matter.

He graduated from Johnson Bible College (as did his wife Pat) in 1962 with a bachelor's degree in sacred literature.

Ronnie Savits was his best friend throughout his life. Jim cherished him dearly! Ronnie was responsible for introducing Jim to Christ and leading him to Bible College.

Jim and Patricia Ann Carter married June 10, 1959. They ministered congregations in Kimberlin Heights, Tenn.; Bedford, Ind.; Newbern, Tenn.; Hickman, Ky.; Johnston City; Christopher; Benton; Cambridge, Md.; and Pinckneyville.

Jim was influential in a lot of teenagers' lives through high school visits. He worked at summer camps, and performed many baptisms, weddings and funerals over his 50 years of preaching.

His most enriching ministry he loved to talk about was mission work in Haiti and Russia. He felt he won more souls to Christ there. We know he touched and saved just as many in the U.S., too.

He loved roller skating and everything Christmas/family tradition of platform decorating villages. His most loved dog, Sunny, was by his side always.

His wife Pat preceded him in death July 24, 2016.

He is survived by daughters Lisa (Shawn) Tucker, Dana (Allen) Miller and Rita (Jeremy) Pick; his grandchildren, Arren (Jessa) Miller, Nicole (Brian) Keller, Lucas Childers and Leanna Childers; his great-grandchildren, Krryn, Katelynn, Addison, Nolynn, Hailee, Saige and Ingrid; his twin brother, Jack; and his sister, Ruth Ann.

Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, August 24, 2018 at Oak Lawn Cemetery in St. Francisville.
