John Ernest Steele of Campbell Hill

John Ernest Steele, 94, of Campbell Hill, passed away on Monday, Oct. 1, 2018 at his home.

Born on May 13, 1924 in Percy, Mr. Steele was a truck driver. He was a United States Navy veteran. John was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of the Randolph County Farm Bureau. John greatly enjoyed woodworking.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Elizabeth (Carpenter) Steele; his wife, Eva Katharine (Daniels) Steele, whom he married on June 10, 1944 in Dedham, Massachusetts, and who passed away on March 10, 2010; one son, Dan Steele; and five brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by his children, Richard (Moki) Steele of Denver, Colorado, Karen Steele of Campbell Hill and Ronald (Debra) Steele of Warrenton, Virginia; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Sparta, with the Rev. Robert Miner officiating. Burial will be held in the Steeleville Cemetery in Steeleville.

Visitation will be at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Sparta from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, and from 9-11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 10.

Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
