Mary Ann Vaughn, formerly of Chester

Mary Ann (Neuling) Vaughn was called home by our Lord and Savior on Nov. 23, passing peacefully in her sleep. She joins her husband Roger E. Vaughn and her parents Fred and Ruth Neuling in heavenly rest.

Mary was born Sept. 8, 1935 in Chester, Illinois. After earning her nursing degree from Deaconess College in St. Louis, she moved to California where she met and married the love of her life, Roger.

They settled in Sunnyvale, California, where they raised their two children. Mary and Roger then moved to Leander, Texas where they shared the remainder of their lives together.

Mary was a lifelong Lutheran and very active at St. Luke's (California) and Lord of Life (Texas) churches.

Mary will be fondly remembered for her love of Monterey Bay, chardonnay, college and pro football, and yelling at the television when watching the games.

She is survived by her children and their families: Michael Vaughn & Karen (granddaughters Jacquelyn and Juliette); and Linda Vaughn & Toni Ferreira (grandsons Joshua and Daniel).

The family will celebrate her life in a private event.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Galapagos Conservancy or the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
