Anna J. Ewing, formerly of Du Quoin

Anna J. Ewing, 50, and formerly of Du Quoin, passed away after a long battle with chronic kidney disease. Anna went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 1:49 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 22, 2019 at the Ambassador Manor Nursing Home in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Anna was a member of Freedom Life Church of God in Tulsa. She was a member of the Oklahoma Professional Development Registry. She received a one-year Bible certificate from North Central University in Minneapolis.

Anna worked at day cares in Arizona, Illinois, Minnesota and Oklahoma, and her experience as a master teacher gave her the equivalent of an associate degree in early childhood education.

She was born Oct. 15, 1968 in St. Louis, the daughter of Albert and Edith (Smith) Beers. She married the Rev. Eric L. Ewing on Aug. 31, 1991 at Faith Assembly of God Church in Du Quoin, and he survives.

She is survived by her husband of Tulsa; one sister, Cindy Beers of Du Quoin; plus aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved cat, Pepper.

Per Anna's request, cremation services were held.

A private graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 16 at Albert and Edith Beers' grave in the Old Du Quoin Cemetery, for family members and friends by invitation only. That will be followed at noon by a Celebration of Life service at the Faith Assembly of God Church, 539 N. Maple St., Du Quoin, for family and friends.

After the service, there will be a family fellowship at the Second Baptist Church, 219 S. Illinois Ave. in Du Quoin.

A Celebration of Life service in Oklahoma will also be held, at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 23, at Freedom Life Church of God in Tulsa.
