Joann Boatright of Anna, formerly of Harrisburg

Joann Boatright, age 84 of Anna, died Thursday, March 21, 2019 in the Reflections Memory Care in Carterville.

She was born Nov. 9, 1934 in Harrisburg, the daughter of Matthew Joseph and Verba (Burns) Fiala.

Joann married Vernon Dale Boatright on May 30, 1954 in Corinth, Mississippi. He preceded her in death on Jan. 5, 2011, and together they shared 56 years of marriage.

Joann is survived by her son, Dale Conrad Boatright of Anna; daughter, Karen (Bobby) Toler of Jonesboro; eight grandchildren, Michelle (Randy) Harris, Heather Boatright, Beth Ann Myers, Jennifer (Ben) Wetherington, Kimberly (Josh) Spurlock, Mary (Robbie) Petzoldt, Bobby Dale (Caitlyn) Toler, and Amber Toler; 10 great-great grandchildren, Makenzie, Dylan, Jayden, Chad Jr., Olivia, Levi, Lily, Zachary, McKenzie and Riley; nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter, Lori Machelle Boatright; one son, Cecil Lee Boatright; a grandson, Jackie Dale Boatright; two sisters, Mary Agnes Evetts and Alma O'Malley; and a brother, Raymond Fiala.

Joann was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church in Jonesboro for many years. She was actively involved in Women on a Mission. She worked for the Anna National Bank for 26 years as a teller until her retirement in 1996. She took great pride in her years at the bank and enjoyed working with her customers and co-workers that became lifelong friends.

Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. Monday, March 25, 2019 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna, with Ben Wetherington officiating. Interment will be in the North America Cemetery in Harco.

Friends may call between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. service on Monday, at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
