Lodemia Meece of Marion

MARION - Lodemia Meece, 91, of Marion, passed away at 8:35 a.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Parkway Manor in Marion.

Lodemia was born on Jan. 30, 1928 in Goreville to Lora and Bernadean (Johns) Dunn. She married the Rev. Fred A. Meece on Jan. 6, 1951 in De Soto. They were married for 60 years until his death on Sept. 18, 2011.

Lodemia was converted and joined Busby Chapel Church in 1945, where she remained a member. She graduated from Goreville High School and was employed by the State Highway Department in Springfield. She later transferred to the Department of Public Health in Carbondale, where she remained until her marriage in 1951.

She then joined her husband at Fort Sam Houston in Texas until he was sent to Germany to bravely serve his country. She returned to Goreville and then in 1955 moved permanently to Marion with her husband.

Survivors include a son, Mike (Ellen) Meece of Johnston City; two dear grandsons, Aaron (Nikki) Meece of Herrin, and Aaron (Mariah) Meece of West Frankfort; sweet great-grandson, Torrin Meece, of Herrin; brother, James (Mary Ann) Dunn of Goreville; niece and nephew, Trina (Mark) Tosh Mark, of Tunnel Hill, and David Dunn of Goreville; great-nephews, Marshall (Bethany) Dunn of Goreville, and Andy (Emily) of Carterville; great-niece, Macie Tosh, of Tunnel Hill; two great-great-nephews, Gannon Dunn and Mason Dunn; one great-great-niece, Emery Beth Dunn, of Goreville; special aunt, Cora Childers, of Goreville; and numerous cousins.

Lodemia was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant brother, William Marshall Dunn; and beloved aunt, Violet Stearns.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p. m. Wednesday, March 27 at Busby Chapel Church in Goreville. The Rev. Ben Eldridge will officiate with assistance from the Rev. Kenny Blumenstock.

Burial will follow at Busby Cemetery, also in Goreville. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 26 at Blue Funeral Home in Marion and from 11 a.m. until time of service, Wednesday at Busby Chapel Church in Goreville.
