Ellis Lloyd Melvin, formerly of Tamaroa

TAMAROA - Ellis Lloyd Melvin, 90, of Garland, Texas, and formerly of Tamaroa, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2019.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, 2019 at the Wildwood Chapel at Restland of Dallas, at 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, Texas.

Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.

Ellis was born on Aug. 25, 1930 to his loving parents, Eolin and Alvin Melvin, in Tamaroa.

He attended Southern Illinois University. Following his time at SIU, Ellis served in the Army for many years as a Master Sergeant (MSG).

He spoke two foreign languages, Korean and Chinese, and during his time in the Army, worked as an interrogator and interpreter, earning many decorations, which included a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with four Bronze Stars, six Good Conduct Medals, and many more.

Following the Army, he lived in Tamaroa with his wife, Danna, whom he loved so much. They spent most of their life in Tamaroa, where he worked in security at Decca/MCA/Universal records for 23 years.

They eventually moved to Garland, Texas, to be closer to their family.

Ellis is survived through his family, and will be missed.
