Emma A. Searby of Tamaroa

Emma A. Searby, 93, of Tamaroa, passed away at 5:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, 2019, at the St. Clara's Senior Care and Rehab in Lincoln, Illinois.

Emma was a homemaker. She was a funeral assistant with her family for many years at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa.

She was a member of the Tamaroa Christian Church, and the Tamaroa Birthday Club.

Emma was born Feb. 10, 1926, at Browns, Illinois, the daughter of August and Edna (Crackel) Hering.

She married Howard Searby on Dec. 2, 1944, at Browns, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 31, 2013.

Emma is survived by her children, David H. Searby and wife Linda of Du Quoin, Tim Searby and wife Lorna of Lincoln, Mark Searby and wife Linda of Gainesville, Florida, Beth Snyder and husband Keith of Lincoln, and James Searby and wife Kelley of Tamaroa; goddaughter Ellen Sams and her daughter Lydia of Albion, Illinois; one brother, Earl Hering and wife Ruth of Largo, Florida; 10 grandchildren, David Searby Jr. of Du Quoin, Paul Searby and wife Jaime of Du Quoin, Jason Searby and Robin Nance of Chicago, Emmary Roemer and husband Aaron of Lincoln, John Searby and wife Jessi of Belmont, North Carolina, Joel Searby and wife Jen of Archer, Florida, Hannah Snyder of Chicago, Hayley Grover and husband William of Sanford, North Carolina, Josh Searby and wife Amanda of Tamaroa, and Matt Searby and wife Joy of Bloomington; 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Dan Searby; five brothers, Charles, Robert, Howard and James Hering and Lawrence in infancy; and three sisters, Margaret Reid, Wilma Newport and Helen Booth.

Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 1, 2019, at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa, with Dr. Mark Searby, Bro. Arven Kirkpatrick, and Bro. Donnie Parker officiating.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2019, at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa. Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to the Five Star Industries Wishing Well Fund, 1308 Wells St. Road, Du Quoin, IL 62832 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. These will be accepted at the funeral home.
