Flora Belle Clevenger, formerly of Chester

Flora Belle Clevenger, 96, formerly of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 1:10 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy, Illinois.

She was born to the late Robert Arthur and Eva Zoe (nee Travis) Dyer on July 10, 1923 in Parsons, Kansas.

Flora met Homer L. Clevenger while she was in the Marine Corps at Parris Island, South Carolina. They got married on June 15, 1946 in Plymouth, Michigan; he preceded her in death on Aug. 21, 2009.

Flora was a homemaker. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Chester, and enjoyed quilting at the church.

She was a World War II Marine Corps veteran.

Flora is survived by her son, Larry (Karen) Clevenger of Lake Wales, Florida; and two grandchildren, Johanna Clevenger and James Clevenger.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Joe Dyer and Robert Dyer; and two sisters, Mary Reeder and Mabel Redd.

A private graveside service will be held at Ebenezer Cemetery in Rockwood, Illinois.
