Reader: 'Stop bashing county clerk'

Dear Editor,

Everything the county board is doing to discredit our wonderful county clerk is only for political purpose.

She has served very well in her capacity for the past seven years for all the citizens of Saline County. Early in her first term, this nonsense started. She approached the State's Attorney at the time and asked him for advice and direction. He told her that she was "on her own."

She has done nothing wrong ... just not in the way the county board wants her to do her many different job duties. She won that office and it is her discretion how she runs her office.

She has upheld the laws of Saline County, State of Illinois and the United States.

The county board has been on a "witch hunt" and "nit-picked" her for several years. It is time for this dysfunctional county board to STOP and let this kind, honest, caring, efficient woman do her job that she was elected to do.

She is not CRAZY as one board member called her in the news media. Just remember, when you are pointing a finger at her, you have three pointing back at yourself.

Some of these ignorant board members need to back off and pick on someone else for a change.

Together, my husband and I have lived in the county for a total of 146 years and we have many friends, family, and acquaintances who I will now ask to go vote in the March 20th primary and support this county clerk for her third term. Thank you all, it will be very much appreciated!

They have tried to break her down, but she is a woman with strong faith and perseverance. The truth will set us all free!
