INA -- The John A. Logan College women's basketball team didn't go down quietly in the NJCAA's District P championship tournament.

The Lady Vols gave No. 13-ranked Wabash Valley a run for its money before falling, 68-60, in the semifinals Friday morning at Rend Lake College's Waugh Gymnasium.

Wabash (30-1) was led by Lauren Carroll's 22 points. The Warriors advanced to face Southeastern Illinois in Saturday's championship game; SIC beat Kaskaskia, 80-66, in the other semifinal.

Logan led by seven points at halftime, 33-26, and were ahead by as many as 11 after Miriah Donelson hit a 3-pointer in the third quarter to make it 46-35.

But the Warriors went on a 16-0 run after that capped by a Carroll bucket that put WVC ahead by five early in the fourth.

Logan mustered the strength for one more run and led 60-55 with three minutes left after a basket from Ariel Crump and another Donelson trey, but Wabash Valley closed the game on a 13-0 run.

"We had our chances and I really thought we were going to win," said Logan coach Amanda Shelby. "They did all the things they needed to do to seal the win."

Destiny Cozart led the Lady Vols with 16 points, while Donelson had 14. Tiaunna Watkins, one of the nation's leading scorers, added 12.

Logan's season ended with a 16-13 record.
