Alumni Corner: Buss drops 36 on Minnesota in Indiana's win

Tyler Smithpeters -- SIU (Harrisburg HS)

Smitpeters got the start on Senior Night and played 24 minutes, but went scoreless in SIU's 75-56 loss to Loyola Wednesday at the SIU Arena.

Smithpeters handed out a team-high five dimes and finished with two rebounds (defensive) and one block.

Southern also had its seven-game home-winning streak snapped. The Salukis can still secure the No. 2 seed at next week's MVC Tournament with a win at Evansville on Saturday or an Illinois State loss at Loyola.

Tyra Buss -- Indiana (Mt. Carmel HS)

Buss posted back-to-back 30-plus point scoring game as she led four Hoosiers in double figures to a win over Minnesota, 82-70, on Tuesday night inside Williams Arena. Buss dropped 36 points, including a 7-for-14 mark from the 3-point line, and added seven assists as she finished tied for the lead for all-time career assists (533) to go along with five rebounds. The seven threes the Mt. Carmel native made moved her into a tie for second on the Hoosiers career 3-pointers made list with 190.

Indiana closes out the regular season at Iowa on Saturday. Tipoff is set for 11 a.m. on Big Ten Network.

J.T. Weber -- SIU (Massac Co. HS)

Weber went 1-for-6 with a double in SIU's 16-7 win at Austin Peay Tuesday.

Weber hit in the DH spot of the Salukis and added a run scored, while being left on base four times. Weber is fourth on the team with a .267 batting average with four hits, three runs scored and two RBI. Weber is slugging .600 with an on-base percentage of .353. He has two walks and one strikeout with one stolen base in four games.

Noah Farmer -- SIU (Massac Co. HS)

Farmer saw his second visit to the mound for the Salukis this season as he pitched one inning, allowing one run (earned) on two hits, while striking out two. Farmer threw 20 pitches in relief work and faced six batters.

Farmer currently has an ERA of 10.80 in two games, with two runs (earned) on four hits with four strikeouts and no walks.
