Du Quoin baseball picks up two wins

DU QUOIN - The Du Quoin High School baseball team rolled to a 13-6 win over Sparta for an SIRR Mississippi Division win on Tuesday.

Tevin Lee homered and collected three RBIs, while Alex Zimmerman and Ashton Smith both had three hits and Brian Winters had two as the Indians moved to 4-3 in the conference.

Du Quoin then improved to 11-5 overall with a 3-2 win at Steeleville in eight innings Wednesday.

Hank Stewart was the winning pitcher and also had two hits, including the game-winning single in the eighth inning that brought in Zimmerman.

Lee and Smith both added two hits, including doubles, and Smith collected an RBI in the win.

Du Quoin is at home Friday against Anna-Jonesboro.
