Lady Jacket Basketball Camp set for June 25-28

Coach Pat Knowles and his staff will hold the 2018 girl's summer basketball camp, sponsored by the Chester High School Lady Jacket Basketball Team, June 25-28. at the Chester Grade School Gymnasium.

"The grade school gym offers air-conditioning and a very nice facility," Knowles said, "The environment is great for a hot, steamy summer day. When to girls can spend the entire camp day concentrating on basketball and not worrying about the heat, they get more out of the instruction."

The camp will be taught by CHS basketball coaches and volunteers. Campers will learn individual basketball skills such as dribbling, shooting, passing, defensive skills and team concepts.

Girls entering grades 3rd through high school are welcome to attend. There will be two sessions each day based upon age. The first session will run 9-11 a.m. and will feature girls entering 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grades. The second session will run 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. and will serve girls entering junior high (7th and 8th grades) as well as high school age girls.

The cost of the 2018 camp is $25 per camper and includes instruction, a reversible basketball jersey, and camp basketball and refreshments.

Each camper should complete a permission form and submit both the form and a check made payable to Chester High School by Friday, May 11, to Pat Knowles, 513 Van Zant, St., Chester, IL. 62233. Be sure to list name, address, phone number, and grade level for the upcoming school year.

"Finally, list the size of the reversible jersey needed for the camper," Knowles said. "The form must be signed by the parent or legal guardian."

Last summer's camp was a hit, with campers of all ages and skill levels. Knowles hopes to match or exceed that level success this summer and strongly encourages all interested girls to attend.
