Logan spikers sweep past Rend Lake

INA - Olivia Hallet had 12 kills and 11 digs to lead the John A. Logan College volleyball team to a 25-16, 25-15, 25-5 sweep of Rend Lake College on Wednesday night at Waugh Gymnasium.

Logan improved to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in Great Rivers Athletic Conference play with the victory.

"I'm very excited about our start this season," said Logan coach Bill Burnside. "The really exciting thing is that our team is so young. We have seven freshmen playing prominent roles right now and only two sophomores. So to play as well as we did and close them out in three games was a very mature performance for such a young team.

"It makes me very excited about our future."

Shelbey Saye had 20 assists and 11 digs, while Kim Hall added nine kills and Alanis Below had nine digs for the Lady Vols.

Logan plays at home on Monday against Lincoln Trail, then travels to Wabash Valley for a match on Sept. 5.
