Golf CHS picks up wins against Red Bud, Pinckneyville, Sparta

The CHS YellowJacket Boys were the winners at Red Bud and Pinckneyville and beat Sparta in a dual match at the Chester Country Club. At Nashville CHS finished 5th at the 2018 Nashville Invitational Tournament out of 11 teams. Chester finished second at Valmeyer in a triangular match with Gibault and Valmeyer.

Chester hosted Sparta Sept. 4 at the Chester Country Club. Both the Yellowjackets and Lady Jackets competed. The boys beat the Bulldogs 170-190. Jarrett James was the Low Medalist with aa score of 37 (+1). Other YellowJacket scores included Jacob Wingerter (42), Jaden Mott (44), Kaden Freytag (48) and Luke Miller (54).

At the 2018 Nashville Invitational Tournament Sept. 6 Chester finished 5th out of 11 teams. The Jackets shot 178 led by Jarrett James (37). James was followed by Jacob Wingerter (44), Chett Andrews (44), Jakob Cushman (53), Jaden Mott (54), and Kaden Freytag (61). Chester's Jarrett James finished 4th overall out of 67 golfers.

Chester hosted Red Bud Sept. 10 at the Chester Country Club, where the Yellow Jackets defended their home course by two strokes, 178-180.

Chester's Jarrett James was the Low Medalist with his score of 40 (+4). Other CHS scores included Jacob Wingerter (43), Jaden Mott (46), Chett Andrews (49), Kaden Freytag (52) and Luke Miller (55).

Chester traveled to Valmeyer Sept. 11 to battle Gibault and Valmeyer in a triangular match. The Jackets (180) were runners-up to Gibault (169). Valmeyer finished 3rd (220). Chester's Jarrett James was the Low Medalist with his score of just 36 strokes.

Chester's results included Jarrett James (36), Jacob Wingerter (42), Jaden Mott (49), Chett Andrews (53), Kaden Freytag (55), and Luke Miller (66). Gibault was led by Range (38) followed by Sweeney (39), Kruse (44), and Bollinger (48).

The Jackets ended a very busy week with a Sept. 14 road trip to Pinckneyville, where they won a dual match against the River to River Mississippi Division Panthers by 13 strokes, 181-194.

For the 8th time this season, Jarrett James earned the title of Low Medalist for having the best score of all of the golfers. James shot 42 to lead the pack. Also, in his first varsity appearance of the season young Ryan Whitley shot 53 in his big debut.

YellowJacket scores included: Jarrett James (42), Chett Andrews (43), Jacob Wingerter (45), Jaden Mott (51), Ryan Whitley (53), and Kaden Freytag (55). Pinckneyville scores included: Adrock (44), Lindner (47), Clark (47), Hepburn (56), and Reiman (60).

The Lady Jackets competed against Sparta at the Sparta Country Club finishing behind the Lady Bulldogs Thursday September 13.

Samantha Eggemeyer led the Lady Jackets with her score of 58 strokes. Alyssa Place followed with a score of 61. Emma Hathaway recorded a score of 69 strokes and Maria Nickel shot 74 in her freshman appearance. Chester had a team score of 262 strokes.

Sparta won the match with a team score of 245. The Lady Bulldogs were led by P. Maker (54), and followed by R. Maker (60). Baue shot 65 and Williams shot 6 to round out the Sparta team score.</group>
